Chapter ~ History ~

The Nathaniel Bacon Chapter was formed in Mrs. Richard C. Wright's 3215 Seminary Avenue home, Richmond, Virginia, on March 15, 1924.  Most of the original 33 members lived on the Nathaniel Bacon Plantation site, which prompted the chapter name selection. The new chapter received official recognition by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) on October 4, 1924.  By 1926, chapter membership grew to 53.

Over the years, the Nathaniel Bacon Chapter/NSDAR has continued to grow; and members continue to dedicate themselves to historic, educational, and patriotic endeavors.  Members serve the NSDAR by participating in meetings and projects at the chapter, district, state, and national levels.  The Nathaniel Bacon Chapter helps preserve numerous state and national historic sites; honors veterans at the McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center; and sponsors and presents Good Citizen awards, ROTC awards, and awards for community youth American History essays, and community service for outstanding individuals contributing to their local communities.
